Carhartt WIP x Nicholas Daley

Built on a shared appreciation of music and the culture that surrounds it, we have collaborated with British fashion designer Nicholas Daley on a 13-piece capsule collection. The collection sees Daley pay tribute to the pioneering reggae club night created by his parents, Maureen and Jeffrey Daley. The night was first hosted in Edinburgh in 1972, and subsequently ran across Scotland until 1982. For this collaboration, Daley celebrates his core values of community, craftsmanship and culture, while nodding to his own heritage, with subtle references to both Jamaica and Scotland woven throughout the collection.

There are nods to music ephemera, such as custom pin badges and t-shirts inspired by his parents’ ‘Reggae Klub’ nights, as well as a record bag rendered in a custom tartan print, created in collaboration with the knitting circle Daley’s mother organizes. This nod to ancestral craftsmanship also appears on a short harrington-style jacket, executed in a classic herringbone twill with contrast corduroy pockets. Its color palette, meanwhile, employs rich blues, greens, and mustard yellows – a reference to the St Andrew’s Cross flags of both Jamaica and Scotland.

Carhartt WIP’s chore coat is reimagined in a mix of navy corduroy and indigo denim. The design bears contrast stitching that accentuates the subtle alterations Daley made to this iconic style. Other Carhartt WIP archetypes in the collection — including the Vest, Double Knee Pant, and Cargo Pant — draw from similar design cues.

Additionally, the collection features jersey-based pieces, such as the custom striped t-shirt, detailed with a chest pocket, and a hooded sweatshirt, accented by corduroy and contrast stitching. There is also the inclusion of two headwear styles: a knitted, striped bucket hat and Daley’s signature Baker Boy design in a robust canvas that will soften and patina over time.

A set of incense sticks round out the collection. These have been made in collaboration with Japanese incense manufacturer Kuumba International, and developed to reflect the natural outdoor scents of Jamaica and Scotland.

Each item within the collection features a custom woven label, with a logo lock-up hand-drawn by Daley, referencing 70s psychedelic vinyl typography, while emphasizing the care and personal touch given to each element of this collaboration.

The collection will be available from October 23 at nicholasdaley.net (http://nicholasdaley.net), carhartt-wip.com (http://carhartt-wip.com), and through the Carhartt WIP App, as well as at select global retailers and the below Carhartt WIP stores:
